CARPOOLING

Driving can be tiresome. Socializing is good for you. The planet is warming. Help yourself, help someone else. Carpooling is good for everyone.

Carpooling is sharing a car ride with one person or more. You can do carpooling to take children to school and also to get to work. Because expenses are divided between several people, carpooling reduces gas consumption and the amount of vehicles on the road.

1. Decide beforehand the route and schedule. Determine the morning pickup points and designate a meeting place for the trip back home.

2. Designate tasks. It might be boring to be the only driver; let someone else drive while you take charge of the radio.

3. Calculate expenses (gas, tolls, parking). Come to an understanding of how costs will be shared.

4. Be punctual. Decide how long the driver is expected to wait.

5. Use common sense. People who take up more space should go in front; people who take up less space should go in the back.

6. Establish rules. Decide on the type of music and the volume, and if food and beverages are allowed inside the car.

7. Drive safely and keep the vehicle in good condition. There should be no excuse for speeding or reckless driving.

8.Have fun! Enjoy yourself. Get to know one another. Sing a song or two.
