Earth Hour
On Saturday, March 29 at 8:00 PM, Popular turned off the lights for one hour in all its main buildings, in order to create awareness about climate change. This event, which took place for the first time in Sydney, Australia in 2007, was created by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). The effort was done independently in Puerto Rico and Popular supported the initiative in its second year.
Eco-Friendly Branches
The design of our branch offices has evolved. We have installed fluorescent lighting in all areas, passive solar lamps, high-efficiency air-conditioning ducts and furniture with a high content of recycled materials. The new branch offices and the ones that will be remodeled in the future will include these changes. Presently, there are two branch offices with these kinds of adaptation: Los Prados in Caguas and Humacao East.
