Vishing is a fraud scheme via phone call, seeking to obtain your banking information.

Among the most common new schemes is spoofing, a technique used by hackers that consists of placing calls through a system and making them look like they come from an “official” Popular phone number or that of another institution. Hackers pose as bank employees and ask for your personal and/or account information and may even threaten to freeze or close your accounts.

Remember that, even if you have requested our Call Back service, Popular will NEVER ask for:

  • Your full Social Security number
  • Your username and password
  • Your Personal Identification Number (PIN)
  • Mi Banco and ATH Móvil1 validation codes or credentials
