The Banco Popular Foundation was created to strengthen the social and economic well being of the communities we serve and Make Dreams Happen.

Principal Initiatives
The philanthropic efforts of the Banco Popular’s Foundation are principally focused on the development of community and educational programs within California, Florida, Illinois, New Jersey and New York. Proposals will be evaluated for community and educational programs that:

• Build community
• Change lives
• Make a measurable difference

The Banco Popular Foundation invites Community Development and/or Educational organizations to apply for grants ranging from $5,000 to $25,000.

Qualifying Criteria

The Banco Popular Foundation supports registered, non-profit, tax exempt 501(c)3, charitable organizations that:

√ Provide opportunities for Banco Popular employees to volunteer in a meaningful way

√ Deliver services that will economically empower individuals within our communities

√ Represent models in non-traditional learning environments and are directly engaged in providing programs within our communities

√ Demonstrate program sustainability

√ Are nondiscriminatory in their policies and practices with regards to physical abilities, gender, race, age, sexual orientation, ethnic origin and/or creed

Levels of Funding and Associated Criteria

Applicants shall state the level of funding for which they are applying (choose one level only). Funds should be used within one year of grant award.

√ Request involves the participation of Banco Popular employees of at least one branch or business unit that is geographically located in the community

√ Request reaches 20 or more clients annually in providing its services

√ Request engages Banco Popular employees in an integrated and meaningful way on a metropolitan-wide or regional basis

√ Request delivers services, disseminates information on financial literacy/economic empowerment, provides training and/or builds communities in a major metropolitan area or region.

In all cases proposal should show reasonable per client costs and not request more than 50% of funds for either general operating costs or staff salaries.

Sustainability

The Banco Popular Foundation will give priority funding to organizations that can demonstrate ongoing sustainability. We will consider repeat grants for up to three consecutive years. However, we may fund at decreasing levels in years two and three of our support to encourage organizations to obtain a diversified funding base. Repeat funding is not guaranteed and organizations requesting repeat grants must re-apply for funding through our grant process each year.

Ineligibility

Banco Popular Foundation funds may not be used for the following:

√ One-time fundraising events or the purchase of tables at events

√ Event sponsorships

√ The production of any marketing materials

√ Capital expenditures (building or land acquisitions)

√ Grants to individuals

√ The promotion of religious or political causes

HOW TO APPLY

FBP will only be accepting applications submitted electronically via the online application form. Paper applications or applications delivered in person will not be accepted.

1. Applicants must first create their User Account using a valid e-mail address. The creation of this account will permit applicants to administer the application process as well as access the application history. Future applications will also be stored and accessed from this account.

It is important that the password used to create the User Account be stored and known to all organization employees who may need access to the Application Form. After entering the e-mail address belonging to the User Account, the system will automatically send an e-mail with the account password.

2. Once the User Account is created applicants may then access the Application Form.

THE APPLICATION FORM WILL BE AVAILABLE FROM JUNE 1ST UNTIL 5PM (CST), JULY 31ST.

The Banco Popular Foundation will consider proposals from organizations that are aligned with our mission and in which Banco Popular employees are involved as volunteers.
