Background

Women have held an important place in the Puerto Rican music scene for more than a century. Through their legacy, performers such as Myrta Silva, Silvia Rexach, and Ruth Fernández, among others, were and continue to be examples of the great contributions women have made to our musical culture.

The new musical production Ellas, mujeres en la música (Them, Women in Music) takes us through the story of “Ella” (Isel Rodríguez), a woman who lost her inspiration and managed to find it again through musical encounters with renowned artists like Lucecita Benítez, Nydia Caro, Yolandita Monge, Villano Antillano, Melina León, La India, Son Divas and Didi Romero, among others.
