Synopsis

Popular’s musical special has become a cultural experience among Puerto Ricans. This emblematic production, which marks the beginning of the Holiday season, celebrates its 30th edition this year.

“Más que 30” celebrates the three decades of uninterrupted productions commissioned by the Bank. Through interviews, visuals, and performances, it showcases songs that have transcended in time throughout this project that is a gift from the corporation to the public.

Artists like Kany García, Eladio Carrión, Andy Montañez, Gisselle, Young Miko, Los Pleneros de la Cresta, RaiNao, José Nogueras, Joe Louis, Claire Delić, Manolo Ramos, Cheryl Rivera, Seba Otero, Chabela Rodríguez, Víctor Manuelle, Manny Manuel, William Cepeda, and Charlie Sepúlveda, among others, embellish this new production with their art.

Background

Popular’s first musical special debuted in 1965 and was dedicated to Puerto Rican composer Rafael Hernández. The production was made as part of Popular Center’s inauguration celebration, its main building located in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico. In 1993 and following the centennial of Popular, the financial institution began its tradition of making musical productions, now on an annual basis.

The collection has featured local and international artists such as Pedro Capó, Olga Tañón, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, Rubén Blades, Juan Luis Guerra, Ricky Martin, Shakira, Juanes, Marc Anthony, Ozuna, Kany García, Andy Montañez, Víctor Manuelle, Daddy Yankee, Bad Bunny, and Lucecita Benítez, among others.
