Before closing your account with your other bank, please keep in mind:

  • Update your automatic payments and direct deposits to your new Banco Popular account.
    • Direct Deposit – Check with your employer to see if you can use the forms we have available. Some companies have their own direct deposit form. If you want to switch your Social Security deposits, there’s no need to send a letter. You can make the changes by calling the Social Security Administration at 1.800.772.1213 (TTY 1.800.325.0778) or visiting www.ssa.gov/deposit/howtosign.htm.
    • Automatic Payments – Cancel all your automatic payments with your previous financial institution and set them up in Mi Banco under your new account.
      • By enrolling in Mi Banco, you can view balances and transactions for all your Popular accounts, make payments1 and transfers, receive alerts2, and enjoy innovative services such as:
        1. Mi Banco Mobile App: The most comprehensive service for banking transactions on your smartphone or iPad®.
        2. Easy Deposit3: Deposit checks or cash 24/7 at Popular ATMs or through the Mi Banco app.
        3. ATH Móvil4: Transfer money securely between your accounts or to others using just their mobile number.

 You can use Easy Deposit service only at ATMs that feature the Easy Deposit logo. All cash deposited before 9:30 p.m. on business days will be available immediately for all types of transactions. Cash deposits made after 9:30 p.m. on business days and on non- business days will only be available for purchases or withdrawals using the debit card. Checks deposited before 6:00 p.m. on a business day will be processed the same business day, subject to deposit verification and validation. To learn more about the availability of funds on deposited checks, please refer to the Bank's Policy for Availability of Funds at any of our branches or in the Deposit Account Agreement.

 Requires that both the owner of the account and the person who will receive the transfer, to be registered in the service. To register, you must have an active debit card with a participating financial institution with the ATH Móvil Service. Only individuals who are 13 years of age or older may use the service.
