Scammers may impersonate bank employees, claiming there are “unusual transactions” on your accounts or cards, or that your information has been compromised. They may even ask for your card for a supposed replacement.

Vishing is a fraud scheme via phone call, seeking to obtain your confidential information.
The most common new schemes include spoofing, a technique used by hackers that consists of placing calls through a system that emulates an “official” Popular phone number or that of another institution.
Hackers pose as bank employees and ask for your personal and/or account information and may even threaten to freeze or close your accounts.
Additionally, they simulate numbers from institutions like Popular and pose as employees in video calls. They ask you to download applications or grant them access to your device, allowing them to view your messages, passwords, and notifications without you directly providing them.
